I am Redeemed

Have you ever really thought about these simple three words: I am Redeemed? Yes, they are simple but powerful. Redeemed, that means you were bought with a price. Paul talked about this in his first letter to the Church at Corinth. You know, that letter where he basically reminded them over and over again that they were new people because of Christ, take a look at how he wrapped up chapter 6:

¹⁵ Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

¹⁶ What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

¹⁷ But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

¹⁹ What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

²⁰ For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)

When I was a child soda pop bottles required a deposit when you bought them. Often times my sisters and my friends and I would search around the neighborhood to find bottles that were thrown into the trash or just lying on the ground. We would take those bottles up to the local 5 & 10 store and “redeem” then for the deposit that the original purchaser paid. The bottles where “bought with a price”, usually 5 or 10 cents; a price that would be redeemed later.

I Am Redeemed

Jesus bought me with a price — His precious blood that He shed on Calvary’s cross.

You set me free

I am no longer bound by the sin that once had me in chains.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

Sometimes we forget the power of those three words. The power that changed us into a brand new creature. The power that changes our heart to be molded into the image of Jesus.

Because I am Redeemed
