Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus? He said it Himself — He is the way, the truth and the life. But what does that mean?

By Pamela Rose Williams

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

Who is Jesus? He said it Himself — He is the way, the truth and the life. But what does that mean? Let’s break it down:

The Way

The Way to where? Unlike many popular religions of the day, the Bible teaches that there is only One Way to Heaven — to God. And that is through Jesus. You see when God created the earth He placed the first man, Adam, in a perfect garden. And He gave him everlasting life. Everything he needed was there and Adam (and his wife Eve) actually walked and talked with God. When God placed them in that perfect place He gave them only one rule:

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The BAD NEWS is that Eve and her husband did eat from that tree and the relationship between God and man changed. From that moment on Adam and Eve tried to hide from God because they knew they had broken that one rule. The world that Adam and Eve had been created into was no longer perfect and their bodies began to deteriorate from life to death.

The GOOD NEWS is that God promised to make all things right again through a promised Messiah who would deliver mankind from the bondage of sin (Genesis 3:15).  This is the theme throughout the entire Old Testament — the Promised Deliverer.

God kept His Promise and made a Way back to Him through His Son Jesus (John 1:1-14). God made Jesus sin for us, even though He was Perfect and is perfect as God in the flesh.

Jesus is the Way — the ONLY Way because we can do nothing to save ourselves from certain death. We must believe in what Jesus did for us personally to be seen as righteous in God’s eyes (2 Corinthians 5:19-21). If there was any other way then Jesus would not have had to die. But the even BETTER NEWS is that Jesus proved victory over death by rising from the dead according to the Scriptures  (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

The Truth

Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-14) and the Word is Truth:

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17)

The Bible says it, I believe it. It is that simple!

The Life

Jesus is how we obtain eternal or everlasting life. Without Him we will surely die:

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Truth is that you cannot have everlasting Life in any other Way but by Jesus.

Do you know Jesus? Meet my Savior
