The Next Good Thing When Life is Challenging

Romans 15:13. “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Life. That is what happens when we are busy making plans. Who said that? Well, I really don’t remember, but I do know it is so true. Even for a mature Christian, sometimes things take a turn and our faith is tested. Perhaps more importantly, our testimony is tested!

You know what I am talking about! You wake up, enjoy your cup of coffee and maybe a little breakfast and then you are off to work. But you arrive there only to learn that you no longer have a job. Economy has caught up and your employer must cut back. Or you call up a friend to touch base and what you find is a friend who is in the midst of a firestorm – they have suddenly lost a loved one. Or how about when you go for routine testing that was ordered by your doctor, and you learn that you might be facing a battle with a health issue you didn’t even know you had? Maybe you find out that the one you thought was delivered from that addiction has started using again.

That’s right – you are busy making plans and you get that curve ball in life. Christian! know that God knows all about your trials and He is still on the throne. Today’s verse is one that I have committed to memory so that when I get those curve balls I can cry out to God and abound in hope.

No matter what your life issue is, there are some things you can do to make sure you stay balanced and healthy. Here are some things I try to remember to do and tell others to do the same:

  1. There are good days and bad, but as time moves on the good days will be more as long as you let it be.
  2. You gotta get out of bed.
  3. You gotta get dressed.
  4. You gotta eat and even enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.
  5. And you must keep a routine. When you do not keep your routine you will be more apt to dwell on the sadness and less able to remember the happy times.

These things help you to think on the things that you should think on.

As I said, even for the strongest believer, God allows us to deal with life challenges but when we trust the Lord with our issues and allow Holy Spirit to help us through, we will look back and see God in the midst of it all. You can use these things that seem so bad in your life for good and for the glory of God. Choose to do the next good thing, and that might just be presenting a blessing to someone else. My own experience tells me so.
