Bible References:

Philippians 2:19-30 19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.  20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.  21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.  22But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.  23Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.  24But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.  25Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.  26For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.  27For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.  28I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.  29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:  30Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

Acts 16:1-4 1Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:  2Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.  3Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.  4And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.

1 Corinthians 4:17 17For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

1 Timothy 1:2-3 2Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.  3As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

2 Timothy 1:2-4 2To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.  3I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;  4Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

2 Timothy 2:1-10 1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.  3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.  5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.  6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.  7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:  9Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.  10Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
