Apple or Pear Cake

This is an incredibly moist cake that can be made with things that you have in your pantry.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Ingredients for Cake:

  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 3/4 Cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 3 Cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 cups diced raw apples or pears

Ingredients for Topping:

  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup milk
  • 1/ 4 Cup butter

Mix all cake ingredients by hand in order given. Pour in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan or spring form pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes and remove. Don’t turn oven off. Place cake in pan on cookie sheet (the cookie sheet will catch drippings from topping if it runs over).

For Topping:

In saucepan mix all ingredients and bring to a slow boil for 3 minutes. Pour over cake and return to oven for 4 minutes.

Cool on rack.  Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream drizzled with a little warm caramel sauce … or just plain.

This might be the yummiest, moistest, truly amazing cake you have ever tasted!
